What are Sezzle Recurring Payments?
Sezzle Recurring Payments supports orders placed using saved payment details, often for things like subscriptions or auto-refills (such as vitamins, pet food, or skincare). These orders are typically charged in full, but eligible orders will have the option to split the payment into a Pay Later plan (like Pay in 4) within 72 hours of purchase.
If your order qualifies, you’ll receive a notification and see the option to split the order in your Sezzle app or dashboard.
How do I split a recurring order into a Pay Later plan?
If your order is eligible, you’ll have up to 72 hours from the time of purchase to split it into a Pay Later plan (like Pay in 4). Here’s how:
- Open your Sezzle app or log in to your Sezzle dashboard here
- Go to the “Orders” tab and then click on “Active Orders.”
- Look for the order with a “Pay Later Available” tag.
- Select the order and follow the prompts to split it.
Once split, you’ll be charged just the down payment up front, and the rest will follow your Pay Later schedule.
Why don’t I see the option to split my order?
Not all orders qualify for Pay Later. You might not see the option to split if:
- Your order is outside the 72-hour decision window.
- The total is outside the merchant’s minimum or maximum order requirements.
- Your account or the order didn’t qualify for Pay Later at the time.
If your order was eligible, you would’ve received a notification and seen the option in your account.
How do I know if my recurring order was successfully split?
If you split your order within the 72-hour window, you’ll receive a confirmation email and see an updated payment schedule in your Sezzle account.
You’ll also be able to view your upcoming payments in the Orders tab of the app or website.
When will I be charged for a recurring order?

If you split your order:
- You’ll be charged the down payment right away, and the rest will follow your Pay Later schedule.

If you don’t take action within 72 hours:
- The full amount will be charged to your saved payment method.

What is the “Recurring Orders” option at checkout?
The Recurring Orders toggle allows the merchant to automatically place future orders for you on a regular schedule—like weekly, monthly, or yearly. This is often used for subscription-style purchases (like vitamins, pet food, or skincare).
If you turn this on:
- Future orders will be charged in full using your saved payment method.
- If eligible, you’ll have up to 72 hours to switch to a Pay Later plan (like Pay in 4) after each order is placed.
- You’ll receive a notification and can manage payments from your Sezzle app or dashboard.
You can choose to leave this option off if you’d prefer to approve each order manually.
What is the “Future Order Approval” option at checkout?
The Future Order Approval option provides an expedited checkout experience with the merchant by allowing you to skip re-entering order information through Sezzle. Instead, once you sign into Sezzle on the merchant website and make an order using the merchant’s checkout process, Future Order Approval will then allow the merchant to use your saved payment information and complete the order through Sezzle on the backend. This makes the checkout experience faster, and you can decide on whether to Pay Later through the Sezzle app within 72 hours (if eligible).
Keep in mind that when Future Order Approval is enabled:
- Any future orders will be charged in full at the time of purchase. As mentioned above, you’ll have up to 72 hours to split the payment if your order qualifies.
Recurring Payments and Future Order Approval can be turned on or off during checkout. You can turn off the Future Order Approval option by logging in to your Sezzle Dashboard on the Sezzle website and navigating to Account > Payment Methods > Preapproved Payments > View Preapproved Payments. From there, click “Cancel.” Please note that the Future Order Approval option must be turned on in order to opt in to recurring payments so that the merchant can make the order through Sezzle on your behalf.
