Purchase requests are pre-approved loan amounts you request for each Virtual Card use. See “What is a Virtual Card purchase request, and how do I create one?” and “How do I use the Sezzle Virtual Card?” for more information.
Even though you are not charged until you make the purchase, having an active purchase request directly impacts your spending power.*
Example of Spending Power impact when you create and use or cancel a purchase request of the same amount:
For example, if you have $200 in spending power and create a purchase request for $100, your spending power will now be $100. If you go to make a purchase and the total is $150, you will be sent notifications to create a new purchase request, but because your leftover spending power is $100, you will need to cancel the existing $100 purchase request first. Once you delete the active purchase request and create a new one for $150, your new spending power will be $50.
On the other hand, if you have $200 in spending power and create a purchase request for $100, your spending power will now be $100. If that purchase request expires or you cancel it, your spending power will go back up to $200.

(Purchase requests are in BETA. Because of this, they may not be available for all users. If you do not see them even after updating to the newest version of the Sezzle app, please check again later as we work to implement this new feature for all Virtual Card users. You may continue with the Virtual Card experience as you see in your app.)
*Merchant-specific spending power will not reflect active purchase requests. Our team is working to implement this soon. It’s best to keep your overall spending power and active purchase requests in mind when attempting a new Sezzle order.
