Sezzle Balance is a digital gift card–style account within the Sezzle platform that allows shoppers to store, manage, and spend funds easily. Users can add money from a linked debit card or bank account. It is available to U.S. residents (excluding territories) who are at least 18 years old.
Adding Funds:
A Sezzle Balance load Fee of up to $4.99 may apply. You can add money to your Sezzle Balance through:
- Refunds from returned purchases made through Sezzle
- Sezzle Spend rewards earned from eligible transactions
- A linked debit card or bank account

You can load between $30 and $500 per transaction.
- Monthly load limits are the greater of $500 or the total outstanding balance.

Inactivity Fees: Sezzle Balance Accounts with no purchase or login activity for one year will incur a monthly inactivity fee, up to $5.00, deducted from your available Sezzle Balance.
- Note – Sezzle Balance Accounts that have a $0 balance will not be charged this fee.
Using Sezzle Balance
- Funds can be used to pay for most purchases made through Sezzle.
- Sezzle Balance cannot be applied to virtual card order down payments.
- Sezzle Balance can also be applied to outstanding amounts owed to Sezzle.
- If the balance is insufficient for a purchase, an additional payment method will be required.
How to Add Funds to Your Sezzle Balance with a Debit Card or Bank Account

Adding Funds with a Debit Card or Bank Account:
- Log in to your Sezzle account, click on Account, then select Sezzle Balance.
- Enter the amount you wish to add (you can load between $30 and $500 per transaction).

Choose your payment method:
- You can load your balance using a debit card or a linked bank account
- Click Continue.
- Review your transaction details and click Confirm.
Important: If you haven’t verified your identity by providing your SSN, you’ll be prompted to do so before completing the transaction. You’ll only need to verify once.
- After confirming, if added with a card, your funds will be added to your Sezzle Balance and ready to use immediately. Adding funds with a bank account may take up to 7 business days to process and will not be available to use until the processing time has finished.
Withdrawing Funds
- Sezzle Balance cannot be withdrawn, but can be used for purchases made through Sezzle. If you close your account with a remaining balance, those funds will be forfeited.
How refunds work with Sezzle Balance
If you receive a refund from a merchant on a Sezzle order, any Sezzle Balance you used on that order will be returned to your Sezzle Balance. If the refund happens before your order is fully paid off, we’ll first apply the refund toward any remaining scheduled payments. Once those are covered, any extra money will go back into your Sezzle Balance for you to use on future purchases.

This means your Sezzle Balance is restored first before any other payment method is refunded.
